Coach Cui Yahui was born and raised in Beijing. At the age of nine, 1972 he was selected to begin Wushu training with the prestigious Beijing Wushu Team under the guidance of Coach Li Jungfeng. 1976 Beijing Wushu Teamis divided into male and female teams, he began under the guidance of Coach Wu, Bin.

1974 President Richard Nixon met with the three young goodwell ambassadors at the White House. Jet Li, Lu Yan and Cui Yahui.
